Friend: How do any women not find it offensive in some fashion when men are like "gotta ask the boss" in reference to their wives and its various iterations?
Me: Some are. Some may feel that it's an admission that the woman in question has some authority in the relationship which is preferable to being told your choices have no bearing on the final decision.
Friend: That makes some sense. I supposed we are still a long way away from "your choices have bearing" being in the same class as "grass is green"
Me: Yeah and the insecurity inherent in having to make jokes about acknowledging that your desires are not the only factor will be seen as a less common flaw.
